چکیده

The benefits of ginseng have been mainly attributed to its triterpenoids, called ginsenosides. Recent genome sequencing the Panax has paved way for in-depth proteomic studies this medicinal plant. current study was conducted deepen information on root proteome Korean ginseng. Proteomic workflow optimized by testing two different strategies, characterized phenol extraction procedure, presence or absence SDS-PAGE fractionation step, and nano-scale liquid chromatographic tandem mass spectrometry (nLC-MS/MS) analysis. results highlighted an evident improvement combination with before nLC-MS/MS In addition, a dramatic impact steaming process (the treatment produce red from ginseng) protein properties observed. Overall, analyses permitted characterization total 2412 proteins. A large number identified proteins belonged functional categories carbon/energy metabolism (22.4% 14.6%, respectively). primary secondary metabolisms are major metabolic pathways, which emerged known play important role in response (a)biotic stresses were also identified. not only confirmed previous transcriptomic reports but extended information, including main pathways involved

Insilico profiling of microRNAs in Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer)

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of recently discovered non-coding small RNA molecules, on average approximately 21 nucleotides in length, which underlie numerous important biological roles in gene regulation in various organisms. The miRNA database (release 18) has 18,226 miRNAs, which have been deposited from different species. Although miRNAs have been identified and validated in many plant sp...

Discrimination of Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) cultivar Chunpoong and American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) using the auxin repressed protein gene

BACKGROUND Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng) is one of the most important medicinal plants in the Orient. Among nine cultivars of P. ginseng, Chunpoong commands a much greater market value and has been planted widely in Korea. Chunpoong has superior quality "Chunsam" (1st grade ginseng) when made into red ginseng. METHODS A rapid and reliable method for discriminating the Chunpoong cultivar was ...

Comparison of Ginsenoside Contents in Different Parts of Korean Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer)

The present study was conducted to investigate the ginsenoside profiles of the main root, root hair, and leaf of ginseng in order to demonstrate their possible application in medicine. The total ginsenoside content of the leaf was up to 12 times than that in the main root, and the content of protopanaxadiol groups was higher than that of protopanaxatriol groups in all the samples. The leaf was ...

Chemopreventive Effects of Korean Red Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) on Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are well known environmental carcinogens. PAH metabolites, especially BaP-7,8- dihydrodiol, 9,10 epoxide, initiate carcinogenesis via high specificity binding to DNA to form DNA adducts. The Korean red ginseng (KRG) from Panax ginseng has been suggested to protect against damages due to PAH exposure but the mechanism is unknown. Therefore, we investigated...
